Prosecco & Rubies
Elegant jewellery, lovingly handmade for free and independent spirits.
Every piece tells its own story...
Hello, I'm Kate, designer-maker and founder at Prosecco & Rubies. I've been making things for as long as I can remember. My jewellery making story began when I was 10 with a beading kit, given to me as a birthday present, and it wasn't long before I started selling my creations at school charity events.
Fast forward 20(ish) years, and I now work (occasionally) at my own kitchen table, rather than my mum's. I recently moved my studio into the garden shed, after I had collected enough conkers to convince the spiders to move out.
When I'm not making jewellery, I'm running around after my toddler and two cats (often at the same time), trying to tame my garden, and planning the next exciting chapter of my family's story.
So, please take a journey through my creations, and dare to dream of the stories they might tell... If you have any questions, or would like to discuss a special order, please use the form below, or contact me at:
Prosecco & Rubies is a family-based business, and I believe that every piece of jewellery tells a story. Whether it is the love story that accompanies wedding, engagement and anniversary rings, or one of friendship, such as a bracelet given to you by your best friend because you were having a bad week, jewellery can have a very special and personal meaning, and can have precious memories attached to it. I want to help you make more of those memories by living life to the full, and telling stories through jewellery.
That story doesn't just start with forming some metal or choosing some gemstones. It starts with the metal and gemstones being mined from the earth and then refined or tumbled, cut and polished. This often takes place in countries where there is significant poverty and little regard for human rights. It can also come at a high cost to the environment.
I take my responsibilities towards my fellow human beings and the World we live in seriously, and only use ethically sourced gemstones, as well as recycled metal whenever possible. I am a registered Fairtrade Goldsmith, so please ask if you would like a special piece made in Fairtrade Gold. I also employ eco-friendly practices at the workbench, such as recycling scrap metal, paper and card, and reducing plastic usage. I am continually reviewing my suppliers as well as my own practices to ensure that my business is as ethical and sustainable as possible.
